I went with a scientist friend to the North Pole and it was incredible. The ship life itself will hopefully be inspiring. Two exploration books I read were The Kingdom of Ice and Roland Hunt’s Nansen. Nansen is a super fascinating character and before the ship wreck Melville’s cousin was onboard and ended up disembarking a long the way. He wrote a memoir I haven’t read yet. Can’t wait to check out the female centered one you are reading.
This is going to be an amazing experience. Looking forward to reading about it. I also plan to live vicariously through you, as this sweltering summer has made me semi-murderous.
You must read Wanderlust, about this wild Danish explorer Peter Freuchen. It is literally stanger than fiction!
Just downloaded it to my kindle!
I'll be watching for your postings! What a trip this will be.
